Update the style at a decent price point

I have installed a few Aria vent/cold-air returns in the past few months. While I really like the style/design, I find the price of the metal units are expensive. I was very curious about the plastic (lite) versions to see how they compared. Unfortunately Aria dealers in my area (south western Quebec) are only able to get the metal products. When new sizes of the lite models were announced at the end of March, I ordered 4 of the 6x10 Flush Wall Vents from ariavents.ca

The installation process is actually easier than the metal models as you can use spray adhesive and a couple of staples (before mud) rather than drywall screws. That made it easier to mud.

Once installed, the vents work as well as the metal version. The main difference to the metal models is that the lite models do not have adjustable air-flow dampers. While that’s true, it’s not like the dampers are designed to be adjusted on a regular basis. In fact, you have to remove the face plate to access the dampers.

Another difference between the lite and metal models is increased airflow with the lite version.

In summary, these lite (plastic) vents are a nice upgrade to traditional vents at a decent price point. I plan to replace the rest of the vents in our house with the same model.

Flush wall vent

Looks great and modern! Had mine installed yesterday and directly noticed the difference. I would advise getting the one that does not require extra work! I had to do some mudding, sanding and painting. But the final result looks great.

Easy to install and paints well

These added an element of sophistication to my remodel. I was surprised and pleased at how easy they were to install and well they painted.
